What You Can Expect: Welcome Aboard the 62ft "Providence V" Sailing Schooner! Day Sail Catch the breeze across Whitsunday Passage through Hook Passage to Whitsunday Island. Morning tea on board. Anchor in Tongue Bay and take in world famous Whitehaven Beach from the Hill Inlet lookout before walking down to the white sand. Spend time on the beach before we head to Dumbbell Island. Lunch on board. Snorkel in the beautiful reef around the island before heading home again feasting on a fruit and cheese platter. Hoist a sail or chill on deck. Sunset Sail Our classic sunset sail takes you out across Pioneer Bay where we catch the breeze to set sail. You are welcomed on board with a complimentary glass of bubbles. Slip into the sunset in style as we head out across the bay. Nibbles include bread/cheeses/dips and seasonal fruit. What a great way to enjoy the evening. What to Expect Onboard: Providence V is a classic 62-ft gaff-rigged schooner which offers day and sunset sails in the Whitsundays.  Providence V was built in North Queensland out of some of the last of the Tully rainforest timber by a wooden boat builder who still lives in North Queensland. He went all the way to America to get the plans and after several months of driving from Florida up to Maine, found the Gloucester schooner in the Mystic River. He was given permission by the museum to build one such schooner. So she is entirely unique. Providence was built in Mourilyn in the builder’s boatbuilding yard with his two sons. She was named Providence V as that was the fifth boat the boatbuilder saw on that trip named Providence. She has starred in a Hollywood movie, Survive the Savage Seas in 1992 having being found by a scout while sailing from Cairns to the Gold Coast.
